97th Annual Lei Day Celebration

  • Kapiolani Park 3840 Paki Avenue Honolulu, HI, 96815 United States (map)

Mayor Rick Blangiardi, the Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation, and the 96th Lei Court invite you to the 97th Annual Lei Day Celebration, presented by the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority. This free event celebrates Hawaiian culture and the iconic symbol of aloha—the lei. Join us on Thursday, May 1st, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kapi‘olani Park near the Bandstand. The celebration will feature local entertainment, hula performances, food, craft, and lei vendors, and highlight the craftsmanship of Hawai‘i’s lei makers.

Don’t miss the Lei Contest Exhibit, showcasing stunning handcrafted leis in a variety of materials and styles. Fresh flower leis for the contest can be submitted from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The public can view the exhibit from 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. after the judging and official opening.

Enjoy Hawaiian Steel Guitar performances from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lei Exhibit area, and try lei-making (while supplies last) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
